Audubon Kern River Preserve is one of California's spectacular outdoor treasures. It protects the finest example of native riparian forest left in the state.
Come visit this non-profit wildlife sanctuary to experience a piece of rare California habitat. This free non-government affiliated preserve is a pack-in/pack-out facility. It is open from dawn to dusk, 365 days per year. Open during the day for hiking, birding, and photography. There is no hunting, fishing, camping or fires allowed on the preserve.
The preserve grounds are open sunrise to sunset every day of the year. The entry road closes occasionally due to flooding. Visitors are welcome to wear boots and walk in during that time.
